Vasily Yurkevich was born in Minsk in 1985.
A graduate of the Rimsky-Korsakov St Petersburg State Conservatory in two fields — opera singing and opera and symphony conducting. He also completed postgraduate study at the same conservatory in the class of Professor V. Altshuler, Honoured Artist of Russia.
He took part in productions in the 2016–2017 and 2017–2018 seasons and conducted performances at the St Petersburg Theatre of Musical Comedy.
In October 2020 he made his conducting debut with the Academic Symphony Orchestra in the Grand Hall of the Shostakovich St Petersburg Philharmonic.
He works with symphony orchestras across Russia and the CIS, including the Academic Symphony Orchestra of the St Petersburg Philharmonic, the Astana State Philharmonic, the Bryansk Governor's Symphony Orchestra, and the Astrakhan, Dagestan, Samara «Volga Philharmonic», Pskov, Donetsk and Leningrad Region orchestras, as well as the United Europe Orchestra in Vienna.
His opera engagements include the Maldybaev Kyrgyz Opera and Ballet Theatre, the Bolshoi Theatre of Belarus and the State Opera and Ballet Theatre of the Komi Republic.
He conducted the gala concerts for the winners of the 49th (2021) and 50th (2022) All-Russian Competition for graduating vocalists, and the final round of the 15th Elena Obraztsova Competition for Young Opera Singers.
He has shared the stage with soloists of the Mariinsky Theatre — Olga Trifonova, Evgeny Akimov, Vladimir Vaneev, Olga Pudova, Zinaida Tsarenko — with Valery Makarov of the Bolshoi Theatre, and with pianist Arseny Tarasevich-Nikolaev and violinist Graf Murzha.
He is currently conductor and curator of the «Elena Obraztsova Legacy» project, presented in concert halls and theatres in Russia, Italy and the CIS.
